The Effects of Hydrogen-Rich Water Intake on Biomarkers of Aging in Older Adults

In this randomized controlled pilot trial, the effects of a 6-month intake of hydrogen water was investigated on several molecular and phenotypic biomarkers of aging in older adults aged 70 years and over.

Hydrogen water created by Drink HRW tablets favorably affected several aging-related features in healthy elderly, extended mean telomere length by ~4% and tended to improve DNA methylation. This was accompanied by improved functioning and towards improved sleep quality.

The study demonstrates that hydrogen could be recognized as a possible anti-aging agent against various markers of aging, including loss of function and telomere length shortening.
